The Nursing & Midwifery Discipline Group is chaired by Professor Roinah Ngunyulu, University of Johannesburg and provide members across the U21 HSG network an opportunity for networking, sharing of information and resources and collaborating on joint projects.

Our Purpose

Our group mission is to ‘enhance individual and collective contributions by leadership to nursing and midwifery education and research and to social transformation through sharing of experiences and resources and through collaborative interdisciplinary projects.’

Our strategic priorities include:

  • Broadening of the educational experience and strengthening of student engagement through a shared focus on global citizenship

  • Strengthened teaching-research nexus, supported by contemporary scholarship

  • Effective virtual and physical learning environments, adaptable to changing learner needs

  • Capacity and capability building in Nursing and Midwifery research endeavors.
