How can we improve health equity and prevent the next pandemic?

Students from across 11 U21 HSG member universities participated in this year’s IPE International Student Challenge. This is an annual event where over 50 students worked as an international team of trainee health professionals to address a specific task.

The theme of this year’s Challenge Event was ‘How can we improve health equity and prevent the next pandemic’. The student teams worked together virtually over a three-week period with the aim of helping prepare for the next viral pandemic by formulating evidence-based recommendations for improving health equity around the globe via a 5 minute video presentation.

The Challenge culminated in a final reflection session with a keynote presentation by Dr Sudhvir Singh, Technical Officer, Equity and Health, Department of Social Determinants of Health, World Health Organisation. The students also had time to share their experiences of Challenge as well as hear the final results from the judges on their submitted team projects.
