Optional tour to Hven, the pearl of Oresund

Join us for a climate-smart tour to the beautiful island Hven. With steep and dramatic coastlines, Hven rises in the Oresund strait between Sweden and Denmark.

To get there we go by train from Lund to Landskrona, then an electric bus to the harbour in Landskrona and from there a ferry to Hven. The ferry docks at Bäckviken, we walk up the hill to get our bikes, and then take off on a biking tour of the island. Along the road you find pubs, restaurants, cafés and small shops but most of all it is a lovely bikeride through a beautiful landscape with some stunning views.

The island was historically under Danish rule. Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546–1601) built two observatories there, Uraniborg and Stjerneborg, during 1576–1596. We will visit the museum and the remains of Uraniborg. There are two churches on this island. The older one, St Ibb's Church, is located at the top of a hill overlooking the Danish town of Rungsted. It was built in the 13th century and is a popular church for weddings. For whiskey lovers there is an opportunity to visit the local whiskey distillery “Spirit of Hven”. You might want to pop into the bar, which has been voted Sweden’s best bar.

Lunch is not included in the tour; we leave it up to each one to find their lunch spot. In case of rain or otherwise bad weather we cancel the tour and arrange another option in Lund.
