The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences is delighted to host the 2018 U21 Health Sciences Group Doctoral Student Forum, in conjunction with the U21 HSG Annual Meeting.
The forum will take place on Monday 10th September 2018 with the theme “Developing my Career Beyond the PhD”. The aim of the forum is to encourage students to consider their PhD experience in the context of the diversity of career opportunities available to them following completion.
We would like to invite doctoral students from a range of disciplines across the U21 HSG member institutions to present their work in Melbourne at the Forum. Students are not required to give an overview of their whole project but rather, a summary of their research and to consider how their PhD experience may assist them with their future career directions.
The full day program will include sessions focussed on:
· ‘Surviving’ the PhD
· Internships and extending capacity
· Building a research profile
· Moderated virtual poster presentations (3MT)
· Networking/ social opportunities
Students will have the opportunity to obtain feedback from an international review panel, attend master classes facilitated by experts in this area, and network with students and academics from 17 global leading universities. Students will also be invited to attend the events of the U21 Health Sciences Group Annual Meeting during the week.
Interested students should submit their abstract before June 11th 2018 to Prof Alex Boussioutas, Associate Dean Research Training, using the application form that can be downloaded below. The selection committee will endeavor to inform students by June 30th 2018 if they have been selected.
