‘Developing my Career Beyond the PhD’
The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences hosted the 2018 U21 Health Sciences Group Doctoral Student Forum, in conjunction with the U21 HSG Annual Meeting.
With over 100 attendees, the forum took place on Monday 10th September 2018 with the theme “Developing my Career Beyond the PhD”. The aim of the forum was to encourage students to consider their PhD experience in the context of the diversity of career opportunities available to them following completion.

The full day programme included sessions on:
· ‘Surviving’ the PhD
· Internships and extending capacity
· Building a research profile
· Moderated poster presentations
· Networking/ social opportunities
Selected students had the opportunity to obtain feedback from an international review panel, attended master classes facilitated by experts in this area, and networked with students and academics from 18 global leading universities. Students also attended the events of the U21 Health Sciences Group Annual Meeting during the week.
