Teaching Excellence Award Recipients' Workshop
Dr Allison Mandrusiak from the University of Queensland and Dr Hong Gao from Fudan University were the recipients of the inaugural U21 HS Teaching Excellence Award. They will present an inter-professional workshop on Thursday 15 September from 9.30am to 11am called: You + Me = We: Learning from, with and about each other in health science education. The workshop will explore strategies for helping students to collaborate and learn from, with and about each other across professions, cultures and countries. They will showcase the use of simulations and other learning approaches to help students develop a view that is broader than themselves, to be able to communicate with people from backgrounds different to their own, and to be prepared for practice in global contexts.

We encourage all delegates to attend some of the great workshops that are scheduled as part of the U21 Health Sciences Group annual meeting. You don't need to be familiar with the project/initiative to attend, we welcome all contributions and value input from all disciplines.

Seeking proposals to host U21 HS Summer School in 2018

This call is seeking operational proposals from U21 HSG member institutions about how they could provide leadership, structure and content for a U21 Health Sciences Summer School.  Courses are held during the northern hemisphere summer i.e. between May/June and August. Institutions may elect to work with faculty exclusively from their own institution or seek expertise within other U21 institutions. Whilst the specific topic is open to the host institution to define, the Summer School should engage multiple disciplines within the group, in an approach that inter-relates interprofessional education with international service/practice learning principles. The deadline to submit a proposal is 31 October 2016. More information at www.u21health.org/summer-school.
