The International Doctoral Student Experience and Transferability of Doctoral training

Monday 9th September 2019

The University of Glasgow, College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences is delighted to host the 2019 U21 Health Sciences Group Doctoral Student Forum, in conjunction with the U21 HSG Annual Meeting.

The forum will take place on Monday 9th September 2019 with themes of the international experience and transferability of doctoral training.  The aims are to encourage discussion amongst students, to share experiences and to consider the diversity of career opportunities available following completion.

We would like to invite doctoral students from a range of disciplines across the U21 HSG member institutions to present their work in Glasgow at the forum. Students are not required to give an overview of their whole project but rather, a summary of their research.

The full day programme will include sessions focused on:

·         The international doctoral experience

·         Masterclass: Transferability of doctoral training

·         After the PhD- Where will my career go? – a roundtable forum sharing different career pathways

·         Short oral student presentations

·         Moderated poster session

·         Networking/ social opportunities & prize presentation

Students will have the opportunity to obtain feedback from an international review panel, attend masterclasses facilitated by experts in this area, and network with students and academics from 18 global leading universities. Students will also be invited to attend the events of the U21 Health Sciences Group Annual Meeting during the week.

Interested students should submit their abstract before 3rd June 2019 to Alastair.Gracie@glasgow.ac.uk, using the application form.

The selection committee will endeavor to inform students by 28th June 2019 if they have been selected.

Please contact Corrina Greenwood, U21 HSG Executive Officer c.a.greenwood.1@bham.ac.uk if you have any general questions or comments.
